Educational Qualification
1. For Veterinary Field Assistant (VFA):
For Direct recruitment to the cadre of Veterinary Field Assistant, a candidate shall have to pass the full-time HSSLC (Class 12) examination in Science stream with Biology as one of the subjects from recognized Board/Council/University.

💡 Additional Allowances: In addition to basic pay, appointed candidates will get Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), and Medical coverage as per official government rules.
Selection Process
- Stage 1: 1. OMR Based Written Test
- Stage 2: 2. Mandatory one year Training:
- Stage (i): (i) The selected candidates shall have to undergo a 1(one) Year Training in Elementary Knowledge of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science at the School of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Assam, Ghungoor, Silchar and its extended campuses under the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department and shall have to pass the said training mandatorily before appointment (with prescribed pay scale). If any of the candidates fail to pass in one or more subjects, he or she may subsequently be allowed to sit for re-examination in that subject or in those subjects as the case may be: Provided that if the candidate fails in the mandatory training he or she shall have to attend the training course again for the term during which the trainees are taught the subject and shall be required to sit for re-examination therein. Provided further that if the candidates fail in the second chance too he or she shall have to attend the training course again for the term during which the trainees are taught the subject and shall be required to sit for reexamination therein.
- Stage (ii): A candidate shall get total three chances for qualifying in the examination.
- Stage (iii): If any candidate is unable to pass the exam in three chances, he or she shall not be eligible for appointment.
- Stage (iv): The selected candidates shall have to execute a bond in the Form as given in Schedule-III (copy attached)of the Assam Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Subordinate Service Rules (Amendment) Rules, 2026 before joining the training course.
